New Facilities at Greensborough College Officially Opened!
It’s done! Today we officially cut the ribbon for the new facilities at Greensborough College! It’s been a long wait but totally worth it!
You might remember that following a spike in enrolments some years ago, the already ageing facilities were struggling to keep up with all the extra use. Heaters had stopped working and bags were falling through floors. The previous government didn’t do anything to help.
The current Victorian Government, after being elected in 2014, committed $10 million to the first stage of rebuilding this great local school.
With works now complete, students are now enjoying a new sports hall, senior school and specialist centre. The new senior school features four classrooms, an information centre, project spaces, study areas, seminar rooms and spaces for art, graphics and design, while the specialist centre provides areas for food tech and performing arts, as well as lecture spaces and music rooms.
Students and the broader Greensborough community will also have access to a new sports hall, which includes a full-size court for netball, basketball, volleyball as well as three badminton courts.
I’m pictured here with Education Minister, James Merlino, the College Principal, Pauline Barker and some fantastic students in the new sports stadium!
The Victorian Government has invested an unprecedented $3.8 billion in school infrastructure over the past four Budgets to ensure it can continue to cater for the estimated 90,000 students who are expected to enter the school system over the next five years.
This school building boom has delivered more than 1,300 school upgrades and 70 new school projects across the state, supporting more than 5,000 construction jobs for Victorians.
