Construction Begins at Greensborough College!
On Friday 26 May 2017, Colin was joined by staff, students, parents and school councillors at Greensborough College to officially turn the first sod.
After a competitive tender process, builder Lloyds Group Pty Ltd have been appointed to undertake the first stage of rebuilding the school.
This project will supply the school with a much-needed revitalisation of its facilities and resources to support the College’s education strategy. The first stage of the rebuild includes:
- Construction of a new Senior Building with flexible and collaborative learning spaces located at the heart of the campus
- An upgrade of Building D to include a specialist learning centre, an administration space, and performing arts and food technology facilities
- A new Sports Hall.
Colin Brooks said that funding for the rebuild had come on the back of a strong community campaign for better facilities at the school.
“I’d particularly like to thank former Principal, John Conway, and former School Councillors, Glenn Martin and Stella Goldsmith, who helped to bring the need for rebuilding to the then state government.” Mr Brooks said.
Funding of $10 million for the first stage of rebuilding Greensborough College was an election commitment of the Andrews Government. In the 2015-16 State Budget, Greensborough College received $1 million funding to commence planning for a modernisation project. In the 2016-17 State Budget, Greensborough College received $9 million funding to undertake construction on the project.
Construction will commence shortly and is expected to be completed by September 2018.
